Market Report - Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 - PS4

We have not discussed any games for current generation systems, mostly because the games are plentiful and not particularly collectible. But I have noticed this particular game popping recently so I thought it was worth discussing.
Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 released on last gen systems way back in November of 2011. In preparation for the release of Marvel vs Capcom Infinite, Capcom decided to release UMvC3 for current gen systems. Though the game was released digitally for PS4 and XBox One digitally starting in December of 2016, Capcom decided to do a very limited physical release on PS4 and XBox One in March of 2017 as a GameStop exclusive. The physical copies were packages with a small comic book and retailed for $29.99.
With unofficial reports of GameStop locations only getting a handful of copies, it is no surprise that the supply has dried up. Recent eBay auctions for sealed copies have been reaching close to $60. CIB copies have been been etching over $50 on occasion. Because some people have not realized the game's scarcity, you will still see some listings for under market value if you look hard enough. Gamestop seems to be aware of the spike, as they price the game used at $39.99, which is $10 more than they charged new less than a year ago. But it's still worth picking up a used copy there if you can find one complete with the comic book.
